A stubborn girl refuses to clean her room. Little does she know that the shadows cast by her clutter are food for the dreaded Shadow Monster who lives in her closet!
Directors Sophie Jarvis and Alicia Eisen teamed up to blend live action and stop motion in this whimsical short. With the help of producers Sara Blake and Geoff Manton of BOLDLY, the shoot was planned and executed in Vancouver, in a built-out studio-warehouse. Subsequent stop motion elements were shot in situ.
In 2012, her short film The Worst Day Ever was an official selection at the Toronto International Film Festival. During this festival, she was featured on the Telefilm Not Short on Talent comedy panel. The Worst Day Ever won the Achievement in Direction award at the EnRoute Film Festival in 2013. Since then, Sophie has directed five more short films that have consistently received festival and arts council support. Sophie was invited to participate in the 2013 Berlinale Talents program: a lab that runs during the Berlin International Film Festival. Sophie has been featured in Discorder Magazine, Women In The Director's Chair, The MUFF Society and CTV to name a few.
